Dear parents and guardians,
Since joining Elm Park 3 years ago I setup a pathway for the juniors to get onto adult league teams and receive FREE adult league coaching squads from the age of 14.
This can give them a goal to work towards, especially in their teenage years, keeping them active in the club. There are squads for all levels of players from Class 1 (Highest League Level) to Class 7 (Lowest League Level).
We have a structure in Elm Park that juniors can train and play matches as often as they like, to cater for all levels.
I recently took part in a webinar with Dominic Thiem's father, Wolfgang. Dominic is currently the ATP world no. 3 singles player. His father mentioned that Dominic up to 15 or 16 years of age used to play for 5 to 6 hours a day. 2 hours of this was practicing his serve alone or practicing against a wall. Wolfgang mentioned that Dominic would want to do this himself as he loved tennis.
We realise that this is not possible for many so we have set realistic criteria for juniors aged 14 or older to take part in the adult league squads.
We have 3 mens squads and 3 ladies squads with Rob Cherry and Victoria Gaidau, which run from early September up to the beginning of May. The various squads take place during the week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 7pm, on Saturdays they take place at 9am and 10am. They are free for members.
Criteria to be on adult league squads:
Players must show a love for tennis and have an excellent attitude. Players can only be playing junior or adult league for Elm Park.

Train for at least 1hr 30 mins in the Elm Park junior coaching program and be actively seen playing internal competitions.
OR
Play 5 or more Tennis Ireland tournaments in the year, representing Elm Park.
Rob recently did a survey of the Elm Park Mens and Ladies 1st teams and over 95% of the Men and Ladies who play on these teams, played junior Tennis Ireland tournaments. It shows how important competitive tennis matches are for a player's development.
OR
Be of a standard capable of playing on the Men's 1st three summer league teams or Ladies 1st two summer league teams.

Players will be invited to the adult league coaching squads by Rob Cherry and Victoria Gaidau if the above criteria is met.
